
25 Mar The 104th Anniversary of the Turkish National Anthem Celebrated at Istanbul Arel University
A commemorative event for the 104th anniversary of the adoption of the Turkish National Anthem and in memory of Mehmet Âkif Ersoy was held by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of our university.
During the event, Lecturer Dr. Mehmet Altınova, Director of the Language Application and Research Center, delivered a speech on the significance of the day in the mini conference hall of the Tepekent Kemal Gözükara Campus.
The conference was attended by the academic and administrative staff of our university, as well as students. The program began with a moment of silence in honor of our martyrs and veterans, followed by the recitation of the Turkish National Anthem.
Dr. Mehmet Altınova explained the adoption process of the National Anthem through archival documents. He provided an analysis of the anthem’s text, the process of its acceptance, and how it was composed. Selected compositions from the archives were also played for the audience.
The ceremony concluded with a reading of the Turkish National Anthem by third-year students of the Turkish Language and Literature department.
