Techniques for Memorizing Turkish Words

Techniques for Memorizing Turkish Words

Students who enroll in the Turkish Preparatory Program at Arel University begin the term at the A1 level. During the initial weeks, they get to know each other, but due to their limited vocabulary, communication is somewhat restricted.

In class, we start by teaching the alphabet, followed by vocabulary, and then sentence construction. For our A1-level students, Instructor Hilal TAMTÜRK uses various vocabulary memorization techniques to keep visual memory active and engage students in the lesson.

These techniques are applied to students systematically. For example, visual memory is activated through the use of flashcards prepared by the instructors. Students are called to the board to write words, combining dictation with the Writing-Based Learning technique. Auditory Memory is reinforced through listening exercises and songs, while Reading-Based Learning is applied through understanding words in context within texts.

By trying out these different methods, students discover the learning style that works best for them, which helps them learn more efficiently and quickly.
