03 Oct İstanbul Arel University Language Application And Research Center Turkish Exemption Examination on 10/09/2025
The first session of the exemption exam will be held on Thursday, October 09, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. as a written exam in classroom 307, Sefaköy Campus. Students who are successful in this exam will be eligible to take the oral exam to be held in the afternoon.
In order to be exempt from the preparatory class, undergraduate and associate degree students must achieve 70 points, while graduate, doctoral, and medical faculty students must achieve 80 points from four skills in total. If students receive less than 15 out of 25 points in any of the skills (listening, speaking, reading, or writing), they will be required to attend the preparatory class.
Students who wish to directly attend the preparatory class do not need to take the exam.
The exam will be completed in four (4) sessions.
Each group will have a GROUP SUPERVISOR and a GROUP PROCTOR. It is strictly forbidden to speak with the group supervisor or group proctor.
The passing score for the written exam is 70 points for undergraduate and associate degree students and 80 points for graduate, doctoral, and medical faculty students. Students who fail to reach the required score will be considered unsuccessful and will be required to attend the preparatory class for one year. Students who do not attend any of the exams cannot be exempt from the preparatory class.
The speaking exam will be conducted as a 10-minute question-and-answer session with the instructors. In the speaking section, undergraduate and associate degree students are expected to demonstrate B2 level speaking skills, while graduate, doctoral, and medical faculty students are expected to demonstrate C1 level speaking skills.
A detailed announcement regarding the speaking exam will be made after the written exam.
Before both exams, ID/passport checks will be carried out. Students without an ID or passport will not be admitted to the exam.
The use of electronic devices (mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, headphones, etc.) is strictly prohibited during the exam. Before the exam, students must hand in such devices to the exam proctor.
Leaving the exam hall during the exam is strictly forbidden.
In case of violation of any of the rules or any suspicious situation, the exam may be canceled by the Group Supervisor. In cases such as cheating, attempting to cheat, or having someone else take the exam on behalf of the student, the exam will be canceled, and disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Disciplinary Regulation.
The grading system will be as follows: Writing exam 25%, Grammar exam 25%, Reading exam 25%, and Listening & Speaking exams combined 25%.
Before the exam, you must fill out the relevant form at https://dilmer.arel.edu.tr/online/muafiyet-form.html. Students who do not fill out the form will not be admitted to the exam.
The exam will consist of fill-in-the-blank, true/false, short and long answer, and ordering questions. Exam results will be announced on the University’s announcement page within one week.
Since the exam is designed to measure your Turkish language proficiency, its duration may vary depending on the number of participants.
Please remember to bring necessary materials such as pencils, an eraser, and a sharpener.
