Awareness for Disability Week: An Impactful Presentation by Nurdan Hocamız
As part of Disability Awareness Week, observed between May 10–16, our classrooms were filled with insight and empathy thanks to a powerful presentation by our instructor, Nurdan Hocamız. This special week provided an important opportunity to raise awareness and sensitivity toward individuals with disabilities in our society.
In her presentation, Nurdan Hocamız highlighted the daily challenges faced by people with disabilities, how they overcome these difficulties, and the importance of building empathy toward them. Through this session, our students developed a deeper understanding of the lives of individuals with disabilities.
The presentation also included informative discussions on what can be done to facilitate the inclusion of disabled individuals in society and how we can support them. Students listened to inspiring success stories of people with disabilities, which reinforced the significance of equal opportunities for all.
Nurdan Hocamız’s heartfelt delivery and engaging style greatly increased student interest in the topic. During the Q&A session, students asked questions and deepened their knowledge on areas they were curious about.
This event was not just about sharing information—it played a vital role in nurturing empathy and increasing social awareness among our students. We sincerely thank Nurdan Hocamız for this meaningful presentation and believe that Disability Week represents an important step toward enhancing awareness and social consciousness.
We hope that the events we held during Disability Week will leave a lasting impression on our students and help shape them into more compassionate and socially responsible individuals.
