02 Jul Happy May 19th!
As part of Youth Week, celebrated between May 5–22, we held a special presentation on May 19th for our international students, together with our instructor Işık Hocamız. During this event, we explored the historical significance of May 19 and why it is celebrated as a national holiday.
Throughout the presentation, we explained the critical role of May 19, 1919, in the founding process of the Republic of Türkiye. We emphasized the importance of this meaningful day, when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk landed in Samsun to start the National Struggle, and why it is celebrated as a holiday dedicated to youth.
We also watched sample celebrations of May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. We highlighted how this holiday, celebrated with great enthusiasm every year in Türkiye, draws attention to the value of youth and sports, while strengthening our national unity and solidarity.
During the presentation, students asked questions and had the opportunity to learn more about the meaning and importance of May 19. This activity helped them gain a better understanding of Türkiye’s history and cultural values.
Events like these enhance our students’ historical knowledge and cultural awareness.
We once again celebrate May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, and feel proud to share this special day with our students.
